What you get from this ethical marketing intro package

  • Type of package: skills session.
  • Duration: 90 minutes of face-to-face time.
  • Format: online in our meeting room.
  • Deliverable: we will email a clear bullet-point list of the key takeaways from the session (not an AI summary, but compiled by the mentor) within three days.
  • Preparation: no prep is required for our skills sessions.
  • Commitment: come ready to focus, with phones and emails off and something to jot down any notes.
  • Tailoring: skills sessions are prepared in advance to ensure all the basics are covered. If you are looking for tailored advice, mentoring sessions may be more suitable.

In a crowded and cynical marketplace, businesses that stay true to their values stand out. Ethical marketing doesn’t mean compromising on results. It’s about aligning your actions with your principles to foster long-term trust and loyalty. This service is designed for SMEs who reject the shortcuts of attention hacking, privacy invasion, and manipulative messaging and instead want to build meaningful connections with their audience.

Beyond frameworks such as ‘people, planet, profit’, ethical marketing digs deep into elements such as purpose, sustainability, and social justice.

We’ll explore:

  • Environmentally conscious practice: Minimising the environmental impact of your marketing department, from technology stacks to resource-heavy activities.
  • Transparent communication: Saying what you mean and delivering what you promise.
  • Respect for privacy: Ethical data use that ensures customers feel valued, not exploited.
  • Authenticity in branding: Crafting a message that’s not only compelling but also true to your business’s identity.
  • Responsible engagement: Engaging with your audience in ways that invite dialogue and respect boundaries, avoiding clickbait or exploitative strategies.

During this session, we’ll discuss your current marketing practices, identify areas where ethics and effectiveness can align more closely, and co-create a roadmap that reflects your commitment to honesty and impact. You’ll leave with a clear, actionable strategy that connects with your audience in a meaningful way while safeguarding your reputation.

Rather than covering generic theory, this session will give you practical steps to thrive by doing the right thing. When your marketing embodies the same integrity as the rest of your business, you don’t just attract customers; you create passionate advocates who believe in what you stand for.

How does booking work?

After you check out and pay for your chosen service, you’ll be directed to a calendar where you can pick a mutually convenient slot.

You can overlay your own calendar (Google, Microsoft, or Fastmail) during the booking process (only visible to you) to make it easier to find a good time.

After confirming this booking, you will be sent a confirmation email with the link to a virtual meeting room (which you can also access via the main menu above).

We use a platform called Whereby for these meetings (an alternative to Zoom/Teams). Just open our meeting room in any browser, enter your name, and join the call. No software downloads, no account logins, and no need to input meeting IDs or passcodes.

You’ll receive a reminder email 30 minutes before the meeting so you don’t forget. You may cancel your booking up to 48 hours in advance and receive a full refund. Last-minute cancellations will not be refunded.

Please note that while we will make every effort to accommodate the need to reschedule, repeat no-shows will not be allowed to book future services.

Who you’ll work with

You will work with our Managing Director, Scarlet Bierman. With over 30 years’ marketing and communications experience, she has worked in the UK, France, and Ireland across a wide range of industries in B2B, B2C and G2C.

A marketer with both technical and non-technical skills, Scarlet works with Engage Content’s clients on marketing strategies, content creation, brand development, newsletters, social media management, animated graphics and short-form video, website creation and maintenance, search engine and generative engine (AI) optimisation, user experience and usability, accessibility, localisation, and reporting and analysing results.

Scarlet has produced content for books, print publications, websites, blogs, videos, social media, and the press for the past three decades. Training first in desktop publishing, she moved into web development in the late 1990s and has worked in digital marketing since its earliest days, with a strong focus on content. Her experience in this field is second to none, and she was an advocate for quality content long before it became a mainstream marketing tactic. Passionate about environmental and social issues, she is also a champion of sustainable and ethical marketing strategies.

Scarlet is an experienced marketing and business mentor who has worked with Irish SME clients privately and through the Local Enterprise Offices.
